Comedian cum Optometrist OB Amponsah featured on CNN African Voices – The Change Makers.

Amponsah Obariama Akuoko popularly known as OB Amponsah is a Ghanaian comedian and a qualified optometrist. He is widely known in the media space for his standup comedy performances. OB Amponsah is also the co-host of ‘the half serious show’ on GH-One TV.

Notable among his performances are the political jokes that has received a lot of mixed reactions from the public. At an interview with Ghanaweb, OB Amposah revealed that he was traumatized by the insults and threats on his life.

OB Amposah announced on his social media handles about his feature on CNN African Voices – The Change Makers. “Hello Ghana. Your boy got a feature on CNN AFRICAN Voices Changemakers. This is huge for me and I’m so happy for myself. Thanks to everyone who made this possible”, he wrote.

The standup comedian also touched on the rational behind his political jokes. “In Ghana…, They say you don’t play with some stuff like politics, religion…, …but that is just me. I feel like comedy is comedy and jokes are jokes”. He said.

He further added; “I do not find violence funny. I do not find certain things that seek to degrade other people funny. But when it comes to politics and religion and all those other things that we are all engaged in, I feel like if we are involved in it as a people, then comedians are allowed to talk about it as well”.
