In attempt to ensure that travelers entering Ghana do not carry the Covid virus into the country, the Government of Ghana has put measures in place. One of these measures requires travelers to test for Covid before leaving the country and on arrival.
The amount travelers will pay to have the test is stated as $150. A lot of travelers have commented on the amount, describing it as expensive.
The latest person to add his voice to this conversation is Ghanaian multiple award winning musician Edem. He took to his twitter handle to pour out his anger.
The musician and currently, a judge on TV3 Mentor Reloaded, described the amount to be paid for the Covid test as a scam and a rip off. He added that, other countries are not making travelers to pay for another Covid test.

Updated Travel Protocols
Below are the updated travel Protocols by the government of Ghana
- Each passenger after disembarking will undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test at the airport terminal, at a fee of
US$50 for ECOWAS nationals and US$150 for non-ECOWAS nationals, which will be borne by the passenger. The
test result will be available within thirty (30) minutes. - Ghanaian nationals who test positive for COVID-19 will be handled by the health authorities for further clinical
assessment and management and the cost will be borne by the government of Ghana. Other nationals will bear the
cost of further clinical assessment and management.
