Ghana Medical Association’s Position on Covid-19 Vaccine Mandates in Ghana.

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has stated its position on the Covid-19 Vaccine mandates in Ghana after a careful consideration of the subject matter.

According to GMA, “while vaccines are generally safe and effective, persons who take the vaccines may suffer some side effects as it may be the case with already existing vaccines that have been used for decades.”

The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has requested the Ministry of Health to repeal the mandatory vaccine mandate, which has resulted in the loss of jobs for health workers who have not been vaccinated.

The Association worries that the government’s move to mandate vaccines will strain and weaken the health workforce.

It has consequently advised that the Health Ministry need evidence of a negative Covid-19 test from unvaccinated health personnel.

“The Ministry of Health and its agencies should as a matter of urgency seek out health workers who have some concerns about the vaccines and address them directly to encourage those who are yet to vaccinate to do so,” a statement from the Association stated
