John Agyekum Kufuor, a former president, has denied suggestions that he supported a hopeful flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party.
He claimed that media accounts of the recent Peduase Valley Resort Father’s Day soiree had completely misinterpreted what had happened and implied that he had supported the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, over the other hopefuls.
He indicated that he has a good relationship with all the names that have come up ahead of the contest and he only wants the process to be “fair” and “un-engineered”.
In a press statement clarifying the matter, the former president said that his warm comments for Dr. Bawumia had been misinterpreted by the media as an endorsement when it was not.
The news message, which was signed by Senior Aide and Spokesman Dr. Kwabena Osei-Adubofour, lamented the fact that what occurred “has been seriously misconstrued”.
