I started as a ‘galamseyer’ before moving to Accra to sleep in a ‘kiosk’. – Great Ampong

Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong popularly known as Great Ampong is a Ghanaian gospel musician. He is one of the successful SDA gospel artists in Ghana. Great Ampong started his music career in 1996, and he has a lot of hit songs to his credit.

During an interview with Afia Amankwaah Tamakloe on ‘Mahyease TV Show’, Great Ampong recounted how his life and career started.

The ‘Hossana’ hit maker mentioned that he worked as a ‘galamseyer’ after his dad passed on. After which he was brought to Accra by one of his brothers to seek better conditions of living.

According to Great Ampong, he slept in a ‘kiosk’ when he arrived in Accra. He however, came prepared carrying with him some food stuffs from the village.

I came to Accra in 1996, on the 20th of August. When I was coming, my brother didn’t tell me we were coming to sleep in a ‘kiosk’. I came with food stuffs thinking we were to stay in a house where we can cook”, Great Ampong recounted.
