Police in the Ashanti Region have apprehended a tailor’s apprentice who allegedly murdered a friend in Sewua on Friday in an attempt to escape paying a GHC100 debt.
Nana Kwaku Adu Gyamfi, a 22-year-old Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Level 200 student, was discovered dead in a bush near Sewua.
A bloated neck and “blood seeping from the nostrils” were discovered during a police examination of the body.
About twenty meters distant from the body, a stick suspected of being used to hit the deceased was discovered.
Emmanuel Boateng, a 25-year-old buddy, was later detained by police and confessed to owing the deceased 100 cedis.
According to police, Nana Gyamfi paid Emmanuel a visit at his home in Esaso-Kwablafo, near Esereso, on Friday April 22. The two later went out, but the deceased did not return home until his body was discovered dead in the jungle.
According to Emmanuel, he lured the victim into the bushes and murdered him.
He also took the deceased’s iPhone 11 pro max phone, which was recovered by the police.
Nana Gyamfi’s body has been taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue.
On Monday, April 25, Emmanuel Boateng, who is supporting police investigations, will be arraigned in court.
