A young man who was being pursued by the police is said to have run into the Lamashe-palace Naa’s to avoid being arrested by security agents, causing the commotion.
An eyewitness told JoyNews that the young man was being pursued for driving an unregistered vehicle.
However, when he ran into the palace, he was allegedly shot by the police, resulting in the disturbance.
The behavior, according to the youth, was insulting to traditional authority, which prompted their agitation.
A water cannon was deployed to disperse the teenagers after several bullets were fired.
The dispersed youth reunited at several vantage points, while the police set up camp at the Lamashegu police station with water cannons and armed troops.
To control the situation, a number of troops and police officers joined forces.
