The suspect, Laayaame Simon was gunned down by a special Anti-Robbery Squad assisted by the Upper East Regional Police Command. The 34 year old suspect was gunned down during an intelligence-led operation at Kpatia in the Talensi District.
The special Anti-Robbery Squad was formed after two police officers were allegedly killed by the three suspects in Zuarungu.
Constable Emmanuel Akowuah and Constable Mohammed Sule were on a night patrol when they met their untimely deaths.
According to an eye witness, the suspected robbers opened fire on the police officers when they arrived at a the place on a motorbike.
Since then the Ghana Police through the special Anti-Robbery Squad have been hunting for the suspected robbers. The police in a press release announced the killing of one of the suspected robbers on December 22 2021.
“A special Anti-Robbery squad, assisted by the Upper East Regional Police Command through an intelligence-led operation at Kpatia in the Talensi District have gunned down suspect Laayaame Simon alias Yendu aged 34 years,” the statement said.
They added that such operations will continue until all the suspected robbers are brought to justice.
