In order to press for a 20% Cost of Living Allowance, the Public Services Workers’ Union (PSWU) has also given notice of its intention to start industrial action on Tuesday, July 19.
“We extend our warm felicitations to you and further notifiz you of our intention to embark on strike from
Tues. 19th Jily,2022 in demand of a twenty percent (20%) Cost of Living Allowance (COLA),” the release noticed.
According to the organization, the country’s deteriorating economic realities have made this inevitable.
“In the midst of rising cost of living, inflation currently pegged at 27 .6%o (with propensity to rise further;,
and pending astronomical increases in utility tariffs, the economic analysis which formed the basis of our
acceptance of a 1Yo salary increment for the year 2022 has obviously been thrown out of gear,” they added.
