Stop fixing sirens and strobe lights on cars without authorization. Offenders will be prosecuted – Ghana Police

The Ghana Police Service has responded to a video in which a Toyota Landcruiser with the registration number GR 5150 – 22 was shown with strobe lights and a siren, in violation of road traffic laws 74 (1) of Road Traffic Regulation 2012 LI 2180.

Following an examination of the camera evidence, police arrested the driver, Eric Kofi Agyeman, and the vehicle’s owner, Bishop Daniel Obinim.

The driver and the vehicle’s owner appeared in front of the Akropong Magistrate Court today, Wednesday, February 2, and were fined GHC 1,200.00.

In addition, the court ordered that any unapproved strobe lights and sirens be removed from the vehicle.

The strobe lights and sirens were removed under the supervision of the police and kept by them.

The Police said; “We are appealing to car owners to stop fixing strobe lights and sirens which they are not entitled to on their vehicles. Car owners who flout the law will be prosecuted.”
