On July 18, 2022, some artisans at the Suame Magazine in the Suame Municipality of the Ashanti region hooted and hurled water sachets at their representative Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu for allegedly blocking their progress.
The MP, who doubles as the majority leader in parliament, went to visit the abandoned Suame highway, which the artisans alleged had taken one life because of its dilapidated condition.
Recall that last Friday, the craftsmen obstructed the road and protested against the MP and the government for failing to ensure that the road was fixed.
If the contractor doesn’t come back to restore the road today, they threatened again another protest.
The contractor is back on the road where the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs was earlier today to conduct an inspection.

After learning of the MP’s arrival, the enraged artisans flocked to the roadway, began yelling, pelted him with water sachets, and chased him away.
The Suame legislator, who was accompanied by Mr. Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, the Municipality Chief Executive for the neighborhood, and a few party members, was forced to flee and take shelter atop a storey building at Suame Tarkwa Makro.
Despite the fact that police have been called to the area to ease tensions, the artisans are still assembled in front of the building and are chanting.
