The lyrics of Kofi Kinaata are still a topic of debate among academics.
The Hiphop artist’s song ‘Things Fall Apart’ has been approved for literary students, according to Voice of KNUST on Twitter.
Parts of the song sung in Fante have all been translated into English in the paper attached to the post.
The song has been approved for study by level 200s for the first semester of the 2021/2022 academic year, according to the page.
They said the song was chosen because of Things Fall Apart’s literary methods and poetic groupings of stanzas.

The English Department at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has included a body of work by Kofi Kinaata as part of course materials for students for the third time in six years.
The successful song Susuka was recommended in 2016, Confession was recommended two years later in 2018, and Things Fall Apart, the 2019 hit, was added to the mix four years later in 2022.

All of these songs earned him the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ Songwriter of the Year accolade.
