It has been five months since the Corona virus pandemic forced the leaders of the country to take some measures to ensure that the spread of the virus is minimized. It seems the virus is going nowhere anytime soon, and we have to learn to live with it.
Some measures were outlined earlier that gave religious bodies the opportunity to have services of worship with up to 100 members in attendance for a duration of one hour.
This generated a lot of mixed reactions from individuals as well as religious bodies. Some religious bodies even asked their members to continue to worship from home.
The 14th Nation’s address by the President of the land has brought some good news to religious bodies. The restrictions placed on the number of worshipers who can meet at a time has been lifted and the duration extended to two hours. The President said;
“… I’ve solely missed going to church as I’m sure many others have. And therefore, I’m very happy to announce that in consultation with our church leaders, from 1st August, 2020, the restrictions on the number of congregants worshiping at a time in church will be lifted. And the length of worship extended from one to two hours per service …”14th Nation’s Address
The president however, cautioned all religious leaders to ensure that the covid -9 safety protocols are adhered to.
